About Michele

As a native speaker of American English, I earned a BA in German with a concentration in international business from The Ohio State University where I was awarded the AIMS scholarship by Department of German. I spent time in Austria and Germany further improving my language skills.

After returning to the U.S., I acquired experience in bilingual business environments for the U.S. subsidiaries of German firms PKL, Thyssen Steel and Danaher Controls. I not only translated general business, transportation and customs documents but also served as the point of contact with counterparts at German head offices.

As a university student I earned the Goethe Institut's "Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache", and in the years since I have continuously worked to refine my German fluency by taking advantage of the many resources offered on the Internet, as a member of local German conversation groups and with periodic travel to Germany and Austria.

I completed the New York University's Certificate in Translation program in 2009 and I have since then worked as a full-time freelance translator.

I work with agencies in the U.S., Germany, Switzerland, England, Belgium and Ireland.

I am a member of the American Translators Association and the National Capital Region chapter of the American Translator's Association.
